Miss Lucy Welsh
During the second part of the Autumn term we will looking at repeated poetry. Following on from this we will entertain our audience through writing traditional tales. Our final writing focus will be to inform our readers with instructions on how to make a toy.
During the Autumn term our main focus will be addition and subtraction. This will be taught using a variety of physical resources to aid their learning. Before Christmas we will change our focus to 3-D shapes. Throughout the term pupils will have the opportunity to recap and practise previously taught content.
Year 1 PE days are Monday and Friday.
On days that they have PE, children should wear their PE kit coming into school and stay in it all day. PE kit is a plain white t-shirt, navy shorts and/or navy tracksuit bottoms/ jogging pants with either plimsolls or trainers. The children can wear their school jumper as normal.
Reading occurs in school with 5 x 15 minutes dedicated to independent reading. There is an expectation that children will match this time at home.
Our opening unit asks the question - Where do we belong? We will explore how we belong to God's family. Following on from this we will look at the two world religions of Islam and Sikhism. Towards the end of the Autumn term our Advent & Christmas unit begins by asking - Is waiting always difficult?
