Year 2

Greetings from your class teacher:
 Ms Lucas
Our fantastic TAs are Mrs Illing, Mrs Faith and Ms Nott.
Our learning journey this half term...
This term our learning challenge is "Why do we use different materials for different things?"
You may have heard of the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf but have you heard of The Three Little Wolves? This term, the children will learn about everyday materials and their uses through this twisted fairytale.
This term, the children will build on their understanding of number and place value from Year 1. Using concrete materials, children will learn about 2 digit numbers and how to partition 2 digit numbers. The children will begin to use part-whole models and bar models to represent numbers.
In RE, we begin by reflecting on the Creation story and looking at the wonder of nature as the seasons change. We will spend time thinking about how we can look after our environment.
Class 2 have been busy preparing for the Christmas International market!
Great morning spent with author Tracey Corderoy  and Illustrator Steven Lenton.  Lots of fun and inspiration!
Please enjoy listening to the children retell part of 'Lila and the Secret of Rain'.
Class 2's trip to Dartmoor Zoo
We found some dinosaur eggs in our classroom! We used scientific words to compare the different eggs and predicted which dinosaur each egg belonged to.
The day class 2 met Neil Armstrong! We made rockets and watched Neil Armstrong blast his own rocket into space.
Class 2 had a fantastic day at Pennywell Farm meeting Father Christmas.
"All hail the Queen, all hail the King"
