Year 2

Greetings from your class teacher:
 Ms Lucas
Our fantastic TAs are Ms Nott and Mrs. Faith
Our learning journey this half term...
This term our learning challenge is "What was it like when the Queen came to the throne in 1953?"
Within this topic, the children will be learning about the coronation and what life was like in 1953. The children will write a recount of the day the Queen came to school and read some classic fiction from the 1950s.
During our maths lessons, we will be looking at addition and subtraction and the children will become familiar with using base ten and a number line to add and subtract. The will continue to practise their one minute maths challenges as well.
In RE, we will revisit Sacraments and the children will learn about baptism.
Great morning spent with author Tracey Corderoy  and Illustrator Steven Lenton.  Lots of fun and inspiration!
"All hail the Queen, all hail the King"

Children will be given weekly homework which will be set every Monday and due in the following Monday. This will include...

  • weekly spellings via Literacy Planet

  • Mathletics

  • Handwriting

It is also important that children read every day and practise their individual Minute Maths Challenge. If you have any questions regarding homework, please come and ask.

The children will have their P.E lessons every Tuesday and every other Thursday. Please make sure your child has their P.E kits in school on these days in order to participate in the fun, important and compulsory area of school life. Children will be reminded to take their P.E kits home every half term to be washed.
