Year 2

WELCOME TO CLASS 2

Greetings from your class teacher:
 Ms Lucas
Our fantastic TAs are Ms Nott and Mrs. Faith

Our learning journey this half term...

This term our learning challenge is "Why wouldn't you keep a dinosaur as a pet?"

Within this topic, the children will learn about dinosaurs and their habitat answering questions such as, "What does a dinosaur need to survive?" and "How do we know that dinosaurs really roamed the Earth?". The children will design a model dinosaur habitat to share with their peers.

The children will be writing all about dinosaurs. They will write recounts about excavating Jurassic eggs and write some information to go with their model habitats.

This half term we will be revisiting addition and subtraction. The children will apply their knowledge of number bonds to 20 and 100 to add and subtract 2 two digit numbers and exchange where necessary. Year 2 will also be looking at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.

In RE, we will look at the Jewish faith and reflect on the similarities between the Torah and the Bible. The children will learn about Lent and think about how they can live Lent through pray and almsgiving in preparation for Easter.
Class 2 have been busy preparing for the Christmas International market!
Great morning spent with author Tracey Corderoy  and Illustrator Steven Lenton.  Lots of fun and inspiration!
We found some dinosaur eggs in our classroom! We used scientific words to compare the different eggs and predicted which dinosaur each egg belonged to.
The day class 2 met Neil Armstrong! We made rockets and watched Neil Armstrong blast his own rocket into space.
Class 2 had a fantastic day at Pennywell Farm meeting Father Christmas.
"All hail the Queen, all hail the King"
