Summer

Summer 1
Also look out for the weekly newsletter on Class dojo.

This half term our topic is 'How do we make sure things grow healthy and strong?' We will begin our learning by finding out about different minibeast families that live in our school grounds.  We will explore some minibeasts more closely in our art sessions and be inspired by the artists Henry Matisse and Andy Goldsworthy. We will use the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar to explore the life cycle of caterpillars and watch with our own eyes this transformation as we observe caterpillars change into butterflies!  We will also consider how we can keep ourselves healthy and how we grow and change.

In RWINc we will continue to learn special friends sounds and how to read and write words with these sounds. We will also read and write more complex captions and sentences. The children will be encouraged to apply these skills in their independent writing through opportunities to write in the environment and through Drawing Club.

In our Maths sessions we will focus on the topics- counting on and back from different numbers, numbers up to 20 and numerical patterns.

In our RE this half term our topic is 'To the Ends of the Earth.' During this topic we will explore Pentecost and how the Holy Spirit is always a friend to us. We will also explore how the Parish and Church is a part of our community.
Summer 2
Also look out for the weekly newsletter on Class dojo.

This half term our topic is 'Would you rather be a pirate or a landlubber?' We will begin our learning by investigating pirates and boats.  We will then use the story of the Naughty Bus to explore other forms of transport. We will also decide, when looking at different types of transport, if we think it is from today or the past. During this half term we will also take part in Art week where we will explore our local area and create a collaborative collage.
