During the first part of the Summer term we will write and evaluate rhyming poetry. Following on from this we will entertain and excite our readers through flash-forward narratives. Our final writing focus will be to inform and educate our audience through instructions.
Our opening unit asks the question - How can energy transform? We will consider the time of Pentecost, the events that occur during this time and our role within it, particularly that of transformation and spreading the good news, what it means and why it is important. We will also look at the faith of Hinduism and consider - Where do Hindus find God?
During the Summer term our main focus will be on decimals and shape. This will include adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals. Our second unit will look at identify and measuring angles and using a protractor accurately to do this.
Hearing your child read can be difficult at this age, but as often as possible, ask your child questions about their reading book, challenge them to predict what will happen next and ask them to summarise what they have read so far.
Spellings will be issued on a Monday then tested on the following Monday. Handwriting practice sheets will contain the spelling list and remain in school. The children must access this list through Google Classroom
Maths and English activities will be allocated weekly, using 'IXL'
Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make sure that your child arrives in school wearing their school PE kit. The children should also wear their usual school jumper or cardigan on these days. PE will take place outside and children will be able to wear hats and coats until they have warmed up for this fun, important and compulsory area of school life.
