The Pupil Premium Grant is a sum of money which is allocated to schools on top of their normal budget to support children in some vulnerable groups. Money is allocated for the children of military service personnel to support them emotionally. Looked After Children and any children who have been eligible for Free School Meals at any time in the last six years have money allocated to ensure that they have extra support to ensure they achieve as well academically as the rest of the children in the school.
We are aware that children from vulnerable backgrounds are more susceptible to loss of learning in lockdowns. Chrome books have been offered to all families to ensure that access to a device is not a barrier to accessing learning through the lockdown. Data Sim Cards have also been offered to create wifi hotspots to remove the barrier of internet access. Monitoring of remote learning completion has resulted in offers to spend at least some days in school each week to the majority of children who come under the Pupil Premium umbrella.
Assessment will take place when children return to school to allow us to accurately target extra support to enable children to 'Catch Up' on lost learning.
