Writing at St.Joseph's

At St.Joseph's, we teach writing using the 'Talk For Writing' model.
Talk for Writing, developed by Pie Corbett, supported by Julia Strong, is powerful because it is based on the principles of how children learn. It is powerful because it enables children to imitate the language they need for a particular topic orally before reading and analysing it and then writing their own version.
At St.Joseph's we use letterjoin. This is taught explicitly during through an interactive program and then children are encouraged to practise their handwriting. We award pen licences when children's handwriting is neat and accurately joined-up.
Below is an example of how the letters should be formed.
