During the first part of the Summer term 1, we will be immersed in composing shape poems. Following on from this we will create then entertain with our traditional tales. Then we will end the term looking at informing our audience by writing instructions.
During the Summer 1 term we will begin with looking at multiplication and divisionChildren will practice how to share objects into equal groups and make arrays to calculate answers. Then we will move on to looking at dividing objects into equal groups and solving word problems using multiplication and division strategies.
Religious Education
Our first unit this term is 'Lent and Easter.'  Asking 'How and why do things change?' Looking at how Jesus sacrificed himself for all of us, dying and resurrecting to save us all.
We will then move on to looking at 'Pentecost'. Asking 'Do we need holidays and holydays.' Where we will be exploring the difference between a holiday and the important Holydays in the liturgical year.
Physical Education
Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please make sure that your child arrives in school wearing their school PE kit.  The children should also wear their usual school jumper or cardigan on these days. PE will take place outside and children will be able to wear hats and coats until they have warmed up for this fun, important and compulsory area of school life.
Home reading
Pupils should be reading for 15 minutes every night with their school book.
This will either be a fiction or non-fiction book. They will keep this book for 3 days and will be expected to read it each day at home to develop their fluency. Your child will also bring home a book to share and enjoy each week.  Please note that this may well contain words that we wouldn’t expect your child to read independently and has been chosen by your child simply for pleasure.
Numbots must be practised for 30 minutes in total across the week - this develops children's recall of mental arithmetic
Spellings - these will be issued each Tuesday then tested on the following Monday. Handwriting practice sheets will contain the spelling list and are to be completed and returned for the Monday morning test.  The school uses 'Spelling Frame' which supports the children's learning and this should be completed each week.
IXL- Pupils can complete English and Maths activities to extend their learning on IXL.
