At St Joseph’s our intention is that our children will :

participate in a variety of musical experiences.

sing in tune and with other people, play tuned and untuned musical instruments with increasing control and listen critically to a wide range of music.

create, produce and communicated through the interrelated dimensions of music: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and musical notation.

begin to improvise and compose music for a range of purposes in KS2.
Music Curriculum Implementation 2021
Music is taught weekly, with most year groups being taught by an external company: PPA Cover Ltd.
Our Music curriculum is designed to show progression in the key areas of music. Throughout St josephs children will sing, listen, play, perform and evalute. Lessons are planned in sequences to provide children with the opportunities to review, remember, deepen and apply their understanding. The interrelated dimensions of music weave through the units to encourage the development of musical skills as the learning progresses.
