Homework

Spellings and Maths-

Maths homework will be set every other week, and spelling homework is handed out every week. This should be returned back to school. The homework set will always be linked to our learning that we are doing in school (see the maths document).
For spelling we follow a programme called EdShed, the children learn a new spelling rule each week. The weekly homework set consolidates our classroom learning (see the spelling document at the below for more detail). If your child is struggling with their home learning, please speak to me and I will support you/them in any way that I can.

Reading -

In Year 5, children are expected to be reading at home at least 4 times a week. This can be any reading material and then recorded by parents in their reading diaries.

If your child still follows the Read Write Inc phonics programme please ensure that you are engaging with this at home. Please make sure that the books are coming to school daily as we read throughout the day.

Religious Education
During this half term, we will be learning about our R.E unit called 'Prophecy and Promise'. Prophecy refers to "a message of divine truth delivered by a person called a prophet, often revealing God's will or predicting future events". In this unit, we will explore different important figures from the bible who were spoken to by God and lived their lives, to share his message (prophets). We will look at different scriptures teaching us about prophets and how they relate to our world, today. Please see the document below for more information.
